Love on Ward Bangalore

The Bottle Imp and I have been having a lot of fun. The drinking till drunk, the giggling, and the unprecedented success in teasing sweet young scientists was all good but this book was the highlight of the week. I whined until Bottle Imp bought it for me. It is rather expensive for an whine-acquired indulgence but will put a smile on your face every time you pick it up. This collection has six of the best picture romances featuring the 'blonde and impossibly beautiful, probationary nurse Sally Brown'. It's embarrassingly sexist and judgmental but also wonderful.

On the subject of romance I am thrilled but also affronted to suddenly find everyone around me recommending Jennifer Crusie to me. Yo people, should I spank your adolescent bottoms? I hold up young Poorva who is never so rude as a role model. (At 19, in a fit of good mannered sympathy, she takes Ashis Nandy out for coffee in Budapest. She is allowed.) She never tells me to go read Crusie's website because it is so interesting. I know it is!

oh, plus I am v.v. jealous of your new Love on Ward B. I loved this type of thing when I was a girl, but it's impossible to find such things here in the US. Why?

Hey G, I am convinced you will love it. Especially the period film types Faking It and Fast Women. About Love on Ward B... I just looked it up on abebooks. They have it but amazon does not. The abebooks copy looks relatively cheap.

I hope you get it. You will love it.
